Super Honda

For the Labor Day weekend, Pipeline Cafe brings out the big guns.

DJ Honda brings his infectious brand of one-of-a-kind beats Saturday to the largest dance floor in the state. One of the most influential DJs and producers out of the Land of the Rising Son, Honda’s collaboration catalogue includes work with Mos Def, Redman, Joe Perry (Aerosmith) to the great KRS-One.

Like many other aspects of American culture, the Japanese have embraced hip-hop like a street thug in South Cali. Honda, who once had rock-and-roll star dreams, landed behind the DJ table to make some extra cash and stayed there, eventually becoming the premier ambassador for hip-hop in Japan. Today, he’s on top of his game, and he’ll show you why at Pipe’s.

And it would be neither fast nor furious without the scantily clad models: International model Aiko Tanaka makes an appearance.
