DJ Diplo / Nextdoor makes its welcomed return to Honolulu nightlife with the body rocking grooves courtesy from Philadelphia’s freshest: DJ Diplo. The Grammy-nominated producer of 2008 mega hit “Paper Planes” by M.I.A. has a style and ear for music that represent an out-of-the-box global perspective. Traditional beats from South America and beyond have become a Diplo trademark and the signature sound of his Mad Decent record label.
When a song you co-wrote and produced is featured in a box office sensation like Slumdog Millionaire and hip-hop heavyweights T.I., Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Jay-Z each drop a verse on a remix version of your song, that is swag personified.
Mainstream attention aside, Diplo is far from your splash-in-the-pan, one-trick pony, which is evident in his work with Lil’ Jon, Ashanti, Three 6 Mafia and Shakira.
