Kee-who?
DJ Matt Kee / Whatever ”it” is, DJ Matt Kee has it. His knack for creating that common ground that party-seekers crave and dancers devour is all the proof you need.
Erasing the lines that separate music genres, it’s easy for Kee to keep it light on the rock star imagery. Consider it an effortless task when you pride yourself in bringing beat rooted substance to the party.
“I have never been a purist for any one style or genre of music because I think there is no such thing as a pure form,” he said. “It all comes from somewhere else and if you look at innovators in music, they are usually the ones breaking down barriers, not building them.”
In the box or outside of it, a roll call of the former Bay Area DJ’s past residencies (Wave Waikiki, Zanzabar, Skyline and Doraku) allows him to flex his crowd versatility and penchant for party rocking. His current residency at the chic pau hana get down at Nobu on Fridays has been one of Waikiki’s best kept secrets and a home for the exclusive crowd.
Not anymore.
