Schoolhouse Rockspin
Teddy Rockspin / It’s go time in the 808 for San Jose mixologist Teddy Rockspin, and to borrow a phrase from Rob Base: Rockspin wants to rock right now.
A product of the San Francisco Bay Area, the member of the Commission DJ collective has been making his presence known and uplifting the left coast party scene in the process at mega clubs like Wet, Vivid, Motif and Abyss.
Rockspin will formally introduce himself to HI-state party people in a big way at Bonsai and the Pleasure Lounge at the Honolulu Design Center this weekend in celebration of the release of his brand new CD, The Jewel Chronicles–an 8-hour journey of nonstop music.
“To me recognition is not important, moving the crowd is. When I play at a venue, when the crowd stays until the very end, no matter how big or small the place is, that is what’s important to me,” said the 15-year vet.
Inspired by Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto and the late DJ AM, expect your beat bonanza to include a colorful explosive array of electro, hip-hop, mash-ups and trance to fit the needs of groovers of all kinds.
“I am going to bring the flavor of Teddy Rockspin. The city I’m from is just where I sleep at night. I am a Martian,” he said. “I am here to uplift the people and enlighten them through the art of music.”
