Art smart
In the gallery / Question: Art? You’re majoring in art? What are you going to do with an art degree?
Answer: Umm…make art?
A glance at the new alumni show at the University of Hawaii suggests that the school’s art department has been home to some impressive talents over the years. Contributors include Maile Andrade, Momi Cazimero, Jason Minami, Aaron Padilla, Noe Tanigawa and many others who have passed through the art department at Manoa on their way to fruitful careers both here and abroad. The show kicks off with a panel discussion with artists who work in museums themselves, featuring Contemporary Museum exhibition curator Inger Tully and Gordon Sasaki, a UH alum now at MoMA in New York.
