Cool jerks

PrEeSk0oLdRoPoUtZ / By now, even middle-aged parents have figured out how to spell the San Francisco Bay Area’s hyphy dance and schooled themselves on the L.A.-born krumping. That scene is so 2005. The newer dance craze your ’tween cousin has known about since, like, forever ago is jerking (or is it jerkin’? We’re all over the age of 15, don’t ask us)–another trend out of the Golden State. And some Hawaii kids have made a pretty sweet video showing off their jerkin’ skills. Though that’s probably not how you’re supposed to phrase it. Then again, “jerkin’ off” would probably be worse.

Anyway, from dancing in front of a beach park bathroom to the inside of an opening-and-closing elevator, the video is admittedly catchy and you’ll find yourself trying those deep knee bends and slick subtle footwork sequences in front of the mirror during bathroom breaks at work.

These local jerks call themselves the Preskool Dropoutz (actually, ”PrEeSk0oLdRoPoUtZ”) and their moves are impressive. The 808 Jerks may be calling out the Dropoutz in their own YouTube videos, as is the style for dance crews nowadays, but maybe this means you can get in on the action, too. Just don’t let your boss catch you recording yourself getting low on top of the water cooler.
