Floating City, Nuuanu and Kuakini stop light, Wednesday, 9am

The girl is peddling her bike as fast as she can, hoping to catch the green light. No such luck. As it turns yellow, she slows to a stop and a cop car passes her. At the red light, the cruiser is thrown into park and two local-kine po-po jump out and run around the front and back of the car.
“Chinese fire drill! Nice!” she yells. The cop entering the passenger’s side throws her a grin and hops in. His door is barely closed as the light turns green. The blue lights and siren start as they screech around the corner. She guesses they had to switch drivers for official police business. More likely? They’re still living the teenage life.
