Floating City, Thursday, Aloha Tower, 1:30pm
A couple feeding the birds near Aloha Tower notices a guy snatch a dove from the nibbling flock. Using tiny sharp scissors from a small packet of instruments, he begins working at the bird’s feet. “Avian podiatry,” he jokes. He explains that he helps wild birds with “stuff on their feet–human hair,” which eventually strangles circulation and causes toes or the entire foot to shrivel and die. “Very common,” he says. ”It’s why so many birds limp or worse.” As a volunteer at a bird rehab project, his goal is to free 10 sets of feet daily.
