She sees him as she’s heading toward Kailua on Kalanianaole, approaching Waimanalo, where it looks like all of the Kapiolani Park refugees have settled at Waimanalo Beach Park. There are countless tents and canopies, flap to flap, along the highway. The man rises above his canvas domicile, perched on a step ladder. He’s on an ardent mission–bending, stretching, reaching and pushing–to position his satellite dish properly.
