Meet RAW
On being exposed / Lately, you’ve probably seen RAW emails popping up or notifications slamming your Facebook page. And there’s a good chance you haven’t yet taken a close enough look to see what all the buzz is about.
So meet RAW, an independent arts organization for artists, by artists, that hand-picks and spotlights local artistic talent in film, fashion, music, visual art, hair and makeup design and performance art. Artist showcases occur once a month in each city, and run from February through October–and yes, there’s even a RAWards ceremony in Hollywood!
Our very own reggae sensation Local Uprising is just one of the Hawaii-based artists showcased by RAW, and last issue’s H&K bags is a RAW favorite of mine. There will be more–a lot more–showcasing their artistic talents this Friday, Sept. 14, during an ensemble fashion show at Vice Nightclub.
Singer Tyler Alai, Fluro Swimwear, photographer Merrick Daligdig, Kai Ea Hawaii Jewelry and artist Ha Nam Mun are just a few of the faces you’ll see.
Go. Introduce yourself to the artists of RAW, or they might not stick around.
