Spring Arts
Ah, Spring. Such a beautiful time of year. The birds outside of the Weekly’s offices aren’t annoying or dirty, but youthful and singing songs of hope. They aren’t interested in the trash, whatsoever. And the trees: Look! Fresh little buds on every twig. You just want to hug them. Everything feels like the happy ending of a Claritin commercial. Okay, so maybe we judge our seasons a little differently in Hawaii. While the rest of the nation thaws out, our island springtime means new art on gallery walls and new productions on local stages, film festivals of global scope, the opening of the Hawaii Opera Theatre’s new season and the Merrie Monarch Festival. Hibernation is for the bears. It’s time to wake up and smell the culture.
