HCDA:
Permitted–On March 6, the Hawaii Community Development Authority approved a plan for an amusement park in Kakaako.
House:
Early ed–On March 13, The Committee on Education passed SB 1095, establishing an early childhood education program, and SB 1084, allowing the appropriation of public funds for private early childhood education programs.
Seat belts–On March 13, the Committee on Transportation passed SB 4, which would make use of seat belts mandatory for all passengers in a motor vehicle being driven on any public highway.
Senate:
Compassionate Care–On March 11, the Committee on Health passed HB 411, requiring emergency rooms to offer emergency contraception to sexual assault victims.
Mammograms–On March 11, the Committee on Health passed HB 373, which would require healthcare facilities performing mammograms to provide patients with dense breast tissue reports about cancer risks.
