Better than a trigonometry quiz
Instructor and “vinoisseur” Alan Jahns has been teaching this popular UH class for more than 20 years. An owner of JMD Beverages, our largest locally owned wine distributor, Jahns is well qualified.
Classes are taught at JMD’s state-of-the-art facility at the back of Halawa valley. Running for five consecutive Thursday nights, the course, which covers at least eight wines per session, gives an overview of world wines–from Aglianico to Zinfandel. Brandies and ports are also included in the offerings. A good grounding course for both professional and personal development, the course description says, “Wine Geekdom Awaits!” The course culminates in a dinner prepared by an on-site chef. Students have been known to take this class more than once.
Thursdays 10/22–11/19, 7pm–9:30pm, $135, [outreach.hawaii.edu]/.
