Sorry, ladies only!
Following Michelle Obama’s lead in starting a garden at the White House, the State Commission on the Status of Women has put together a variety of free gardening classes for women. These classes will be held at Olomana Gardens in Waimanalo on selected Sundays this fall. Food is connected with health and wellness, and these classes are offered in an attempt to get women involved in growing food and enjoying a better diet. The number one killer of women is heart disease and is closely linked to poor diet.
Included in the offerings are container gardening, organic gardening, backyard aquaponics and composting. Don’t be put off if you don’t have a yard to work with. You can do many of these activities on your apartment länai or in one of the City’s numerous community gardens.
