Best Burger Restaurant
We think Honolulu Burger Company is the best burger restaurant in town. Here’s why:
1. In everything from bun to beef, local is a priority. “Since day one, we’ve served free-range, grass-fed, Big Island premium beef,” says Reece Farinas, marketing director. One-third pound thick patties are made of fresh ground beef from Kualana Foods on the Big Island. They are beautifully cooked, slightly charred and smoky in flavor. “We couldn’t ask for a better quality of beef,” says Farinas. Ingredients are also local: organic aquaponic Manoa lettuce, hailing from Mari’s Garden. Cheese and garlic butter come from Naked Cow Dairy, while breads are bought from local bakery Patisserie. Taro rolls, anyone?
2. Prices are affordable. Their specialty burgers are all under $10, even with high-quality ingredients. Their most popular burger, the Blue Hawaii, is $8.79 and paired with crumbled blue cheese and bacon.
3. Their hand-cut, sweet potato fries are crispy, flavorful and fresh, lightly tossed in salt, pepper and parsley. You can get a selection of truffle fries, sweet potato fries, bleu cheese fries and garlic fries.
Open since 2010, HBC is expanding in October with a second store in Kahala. There will be open seating and more space, which means more burgers for everyone. Meanwhile, go to the restaurant on South Beretania Street and order our personal favorite, the Mushroom Mushroom burger ($8.95). You won’t regret it.
