Bring out the punk
Clubs / Yes, there are dozens of fabulous things to do if you’re interested in ringing in the New Year, but there’s a reason that many in the industry refer to Dec. 31 as ‘amateur drunk night.’ The thought of attempting to navigate traffic and find parking only to be gouged by exorbitant cover charges for the privilege of being surrounded by people who can’t put a baseball cap on straight, much less restrain themselves from shouting ‘Woohoo!’ for hours on end just to score a plastic glass of cheap champagne leaves many of us resigned to sitting at home with our Netflix. Still, it is a special event, even if it will happen again next year. And for those who want to make a token outing without the pomp and circumstance, Pink Cadillac brings you the Punk-ass New Year
.No cover, no drink specials, no live entertainment and featuring an incredibly hot DJ (Editor’s note: In the interest of full disclosure, our readers should know that the ‘incredibly hot DJ’ is the author of this piece and the Weekly’s calendar editor Dean Carrico. We’ll humor him because he’s new.) playing punk bands with no discernable musical talent, the event promises to be free of the hyperbolic worship of time. Still, if you have to add something with a little more meaning to motivate you, consider this: It will be the last night of operation for the club. The coming of the New Year also brings a remodeling and complete overhaul of Pink’s and while the new management are keeping details about the new club under wraps, we have a sneaking suspicion this will be the last time you’ll feel comfortable wearing all that black.
