Better late than never
Clubs / After everyone has finally recovered from the blur that was New Year’s Eve, Kailua reggae-ska jammers, Pressure Drop headline the last New Year’s party of the year at Skybox Bar and Lounge sponsored by Infamous Apparel.
The eight-member group formed in 1995 in a Jazz band class as students at Kalaheo High School. The friends decided to rock it their way by infusing jazz with the rootsy melodies of reggae to the horns and rhythms of ska. The band teacher didn’t give a funk what style of music they played and so Pressure Drop was formed.
Only a clothing company with a motto, ‘loved by few, hated by many, envied by all,’ would go against the traditional standards and have their New Year’s bash six days after everyone else.
If celebrating the New Year a second time isn’t motivation enough, there will be a $3-a drink open bar during intermission. Should auld acquaintance be forgot, you can blame it on the cheap booze.
