In the air
The folks at Next Door, in an off-beat move to presumably continue down the path of devoted eclecticists, has booked, for the first time, an aerial acrobatic troupe to perform on First Friday.
Perhaps Cirque Hawai’i inspires more than just audience thrills–maybe it has inspired a bit of competition, or at least an ever wider spreading appreciation for the artform. Or maybe someone at Next Door just likes to watch people hang from the ceiling from swaths of brightly colored fabric. Whatever the motivation, local aerial acrobatic troupe Samadhi Hawai’i transforms the urban brick-lined warehouse space Friday evening into a soaring, swooping, flying showcase of acrobats.
Samadhi Hawai’i is the state’s only troupe of aerial acrobats and under the instruction of Andrea Torres, the small group of aerialists has honed their aerial skills to perfection. Watch while they suspend themselves in the air using only their own strength and a limp piece of cloth as leverage.
