In celebration of World Ocean Day, Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawaii will present a special event that focuses on how polluting our waters is, well, bad. But don’t roll your eyes too quickly–Dr. Anthony Andrady, a member of the U.N. Environmental Program Committee and a senior research scientist at the Research Triangle Institute, will be there to talk about micro-plastic particles, zooplankton, the food web and other pieces of the pollution-is-bad puzzle that most of us haven’t even thought to consider. Looks like there’s more to ocean environmentalism than e malama i ke kai.
Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawaii, 415 S. Beretania St., Mon 6/8, 6:30–8:30pm, free, [b-e-a-c-h.org], 393-2168
