Summer star

Hoku Zuttermeister / “Ka nani kaulana poina `ole — Famed is the beauty, never to be forgotten…” These lyrics, written about the ilima flower, also describe the voice and talent of the songwriter’s grandson, Hoku Zuttermeister.
His music, traditional Hawaiian melodies infused with deep reverberations and suspended passion, evokes images that rival a Waikiki sunset. So what better way to spend next Thursday evening than with ohana, listening to Zuttermeister’s lively tunes at the “Ke Kani O Ke Kai” concert series on the Waikiki Aquarium lawn? Throw in a Big City Diner picnic dinner, full access to exhibits, a performance by the Huliau Dance Co, and it’s pono loa — perfect.
