When the Cassowary Pooped! / The Cassowary is considered the most dangerous bird in the world but is also in danger of becoming extinct. UH Manoa’s Kennedy Theatre presents When the Cassowary Pooped! a play adapted from the children’s book of almost the same title, written by Tamara Montgomery and Jodi Parry Belknap and illustrated by Joseph D. Todd. The production, directed by Montgomery, will be scatological and ornithological in telling the story of how of the flightless and ornery Cassowary bird, helped sow the New Guinea rainforest. “This production is not only fun, but is also a wonderful way to introduce children to the endangered species of New Guinea,” said Montgomery. It promises vibrant characters, magic and a giant puppet to keep the attention of a young audience.

Newly released copies of When the Cassowary Pooped (the play adds an exclamation point, we’re talking about the kid’s book in this case…very confusing, we know) will be available for purchase and signing, by Authors Tamara Montgomery and Jodi Belknap and illustrator Joseph Dodd, at each performance.
