Begin the Vereen

Ben Vereen / Ben Vereen, that multi-talented performer, strides onto the Blaisdell Concert Hall stage this weekend to belt tunes from Broadway and share stories from his life in entertainment.
Vereen’s had a long and versatile career as singer, dancer, actor and all-around showman: he originated the role of Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, won the Tony for Pippin and most recently, had a stint as the Wizard of Oz in Wicked. On the screen, the 1977 TV series Roots brought Vereen to national prominence as Chicken George. For the Vereen-curious, check out the Fosse film Sweet Charity –he’s one of the frug dancers.
