Out of the box

Cardboard City Campover / If you see a bunch of cardboard box houses outside of the State Capitol lawn in the early weeks of November, don’t be alarmed. H-5 (Hawaii Helping the Hungry Have Hope) will be throwing the “Cardboard City Campover” to help raise awareness about our homeless here in Hawaii. Music, food, and activities will be in place to help raise funds for the Next Step homeless shelter that H-5 operates in Kakaako. The Cardboard City Campover kicks off a nine-day walk known as the Walk the Talk event, which starts from the State Capitol and makes its way around the island of Oahu, actively seeking to raise funds for the homeless. So get yourself off the couch, away from the air conditioning and Tempur-Pedic mattresses, and help out your houseless neighbors.
