English Beat / No it’s not a joke–English Beat is coming to Honolulu this week.

That’s hard for some of us to believe. You know, the ones who spent our teenage years hanging out at 3-D, Masquerade and the Radio Station–anybody remember Sodapops?–while waiting to turn 18 so we could finally ditch our Mickey’s Big Mouths and drink legally. We shared Hat Makes the Man mixtapes and listened to bands like the English Beat and wondered whether any cool bands would ever come to Honolulu.They would. We just had to wait 20 years for the original white ska revivialists. No Ranking Roger this time, but Dave Wakeling and friends are long overdue.
