Dig the Doris

archaeologist Andrea Berlin / If you admire Indiana Jones but don’t want to leave the island, check out a lecture by archaeologist Andrea Berlin, who will share experiences from years of uncovering artifacts at Tel Kedesh. This site is located in Israel’s Upper Galilee and is old enough to have been mentioned in the Bible as one of the “cities of refuge” for those who unintentionally committed homicide. Through the various objects she has uncovered, Berlin studies rural Phoenician life during the Hellenistic period. Most importantly, during an age in which the Middle East plays an important part in American politics, Berlin will offer new insight on the relations between Jews, Phoenicians, and Greeks in second-century Palestine.
