SUP it up a notch

Rainbow Sandals-Gerry Lopez Battle of the Paddle Hawai’i / Calling all stand-up paddle-heads and anyone with even a shred of interest in the wickedly popular sport of stand-up paddling (a.k.a. SUP): The Rainbow Sandals-Gerry Lopez Battle of the Paddle Hawai’i is invading Duke Kahanamoku Beach in Waikiki this weekend.
Prepare for two days of SUP-mania, because this festival is going to rock your socks. The Battle of the Paddle features a smorgasbord of competitive races and demos for all ages and skill levels, and whether you just want to kick back and watch, or you want to participate, this event has got what you need.
For the competitive SUP-ers with enough skills to paddle in the championship race, the sport’s largest cash purse of $25,000 awaits claiming. The festival also features an open-age group race, relay races and kids races.
The free SUP Expo will give newbies and veterans alike a chance to scope the latest and greatest in the SUP world. Plus, you can meet and greet with pros, meet and greet with manufacturers, and shoots, you can meet and greet with other outdoor enthusiasts that appreciate a quality weekend festival.
