Apt. 3 is 1

Apartment 3’s 1 year anniversary / What’s classier and more retro suave than having Don Draper as a dad? Having two Don Drapers as dads. Apartment 3, the love child of Honolulu’s entrepreneurs of contempo-cool, Flash and Matty Boy, is turning a year old on July 31. Located on the–you guessed it–third floor of the Century Center Building, this stylish little lounge, with its rich amber lighting, faux alligator skin ceilings and TV sets screening Tim Burton classics on repeat, has come a long way since its debut last summer. It’s crawled into its first steps faster than you can say “cigarette-smoking Indonesian baby.”
This Saturday, put on your smartest all-black attire (colored accessories are OK) to give your best wishes the old-fashioned way at the apartment’s first “Black on Black” anniversary party. Honolulu’s one and only burlesque troupe Cherry Blossom Cabaret kick off the birthday-candle-blowing festivities, along with high-energy jazz-fusion R&B band The Bentos, and nightlife staple DJ Eskae who’s signature sound easily segues from electro-rock hip-hop to classic funk and soul. Something about the theme suggests the cake will be dark chocolate. Yum.
