No misery here

Paula Fuga / Paula Fuga has come a long way since her days of auditioning on American Idol. She’s gone on to play nation-wide tours, release her hit debut album, Lilikoi, and collaborate with Jack Johnson and Ziggy Marley.
These collaborations can be found on Misery’s End, her new EP and, like all of her work, the five tracks are a gentle breath of reggae sunshine. But the standout single is the soft strumming of “Misery’s End,” a tender goodbye from a local leaving the Island. “I hope you pick me up at Baggage Claim C,” she sings.
The EP is available on iTunes but if you want an actual CD, you’re gonna have to check her out this First Friday at the “Live from the Lawn” event at the Hawaii State Art Museum. As of this time, these live events are the only places where the CD will be sold. (Although it can also be found at independent retailers like Hungry Ear.) It’s Fuga’s way of supporting the small, independent retailers who, in turn support the small, independent musicians.
In Fuga’s case though, it seems she’s no longer just an indie.
