Extras / This week, Murphy’s Law takes a different meaning: a full-scale blitz of unwavering support for University of Hawaii football. Murphy’s Pigskin Pigout event, the 16th annual block party extravaganza, will close Merchant Street from Nuuanu Avenue to Bethel Street, and serves as a UH football fan’s dream and the official kick-off to the UH Warrior football season.
Na Koa and the Hawaii Bowl Foundation fundraiser and block party has raised over $1.5 million since it’s inception, and serves as the ideal place to meet and greet fellow UH fans and gridiron greats from the past and present.
Auction items will include a Philadelphia Eagles helmet autographed by Michael Vick, a Carolina Panthers helmet signed by Cam Newton and Steve Smith, a football signed by Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, and a Mike Holmgren-autographed Green Bay Packers helmet. These are just a few of the things one might walk away with during the epic night; even non-sports lovers will have the chance to bid on tickets from Hawaiian Air, Go! Mokulele, Alaska Airlines and hotel packages on the mainland and neighbor islands.
Don Murphy, we thank you for your undying support of all-things important (St. Patrick’s day and especially UH football). Go Warriors.
