Ouzo Time
‘Ohana / When the Greeks aren’t philosophizing about life, they’re throwing clothing-optional competitions or hosting festivals like The Greek Festival of Hawaii. Work up your appetite at the bazaar and shop for Greek goods like T-shirts, jewelry, handmade artwork and freshly baked breads and pastries. You can also stock your pantry with imported deli goods like Cretan olive oil, olives, cheeses and herbs. Make your way to the food booths for souvlaki, spanokopita, gyros, salads…the list goes on. And if you have room for dessert, try some loukoumades (Greek malasada) and finish off your ouzo, an anise-flavored aperitif.
Eat, drink, dance, relax. Enjoy live music by Greek bands Apollo and Sotos Kappas. It’s the most fun you can have on $3.
