Stage / They say the neon lights are bright on Broooaaaadwaaaay, They say there’s always magic in the air…
They say the stage is going to shimmer at Windward Community College with a musical revue directed by Ron Bright, called Broadway at Paliku: 10 years of ‘Bright’ Lights. The show highlights songs from Broadway musicals that have been directed by Bright and produced at Paliku Theatre over the last decade, favorites like Jekyll and Hyde, Miss Saigon, and Phantom of the Opera. It also includes music from shows they’d like to produce in the future.
“There’s a little bit of everything,” says actress Jessica Cruz, performing the playful number “Good Morning Baltimore” from Hairspray. She explains that costumers are looking for a big 60’s style wig for her to wear. “It should be really fun.”
Broadway at Paliku is a huge collaborative effort, with over 30 songs and a cast of 41 super-star performers and local heroes alike. Clarke Bright leads the orchestra and Marcelo Pacleb’s 24-7 Danceforce does a couple show-stopping dance numbers. But, they’re all show-stoppers. You’ll be tapping your toes and singing your way home.
