It’s Only a Day Away
Stage / Sure, it’s easy to be cynical about Annie–a plucky, redheaded orphan who sings her heart out to a shaggy dog. It’s especially easy to be cynical if you had a sister like me who can probably still recite the entire movie by heart and give a blood-thumping rendition of “It’s a Hard Knock Life” at a moment’s notice.
But, at its core, Annie is a story about the strength and resilience of the human heart and the importance of having a family (even if you have to build one for yourself)–perfect for the holiday season. Rob Duval directs Chris Gitti as gruff Oliver Warbucks and DHT veteran Riley Newton as Annie in the beloved musical.
