Cupid Crooners
Concerts & Clubs / K-Ci and JoJo, Blackstreet, Shai and Bobby V will rock the house at Soul Sessions Vol. 4, a Valentine’s Day serenade and ode to the closeness and comfort of yesteryear’s R&B. It’s a candy-heart necklace of sweet and sentimental tunes, but on a gold chain (because of their urban street edge).
These, artists (with the exception of 32-year old Bobby V–more of a crooner from the 2000s), who reached their peak during the New Jack Swing Era, will pack the show with warm and cozy slow jam throwbacks you want to hold on to instead of ever tossing away, just like your lover.
“I’d best define the acts performing as four acts that showcase the amazing sounds, look and energy of R&B in America,” Shai’s Darnell Van Rensalier says. “These acts are all responsible for a good portion of the huge hits that defined the ’90s era.”
Whether this concert serves as foreplay or pillow talk, this prelude is primed with surefire classics. We’re not making promises, but if you take your date to the Blaisdell on Thursday, yadda yadda yadda, if you know what we mean.
