Tuesday Night Fever
Extras / Mercury is the planet closest to the sun, which is a star, which could be YOU! The star of the golden-hued Mercury stage, that is. The Mercury Bar is known as an intimate haven for local shows, drinking, dancing and burlesque performances. Many of Hawaii’s most interesting and innovative underground musicians call Merc home; its walls have even rumbled with Bonnie “Prince” Billy and the Black Lips.
There’s an intriguing twist on Merc’s karaoke night, Botoroke. It’s free, presented by Johnny Boto every last Tuesday of the month and will challenge you to sing any song your obscure, avant-garde heart desires–all you have to do is go to the Botoroke Facebook page and type your requests into the infinite virtual songbook, and Boto ensures it’ll be there for you when you get to the bar.
The stage is ready for you to properly pose, strut and belt out “Bohemian Rhapsody” loud and proud while the familiar Xena Warrior Princess-esque painting watches over you like a sacred dream-catcher.
