Bad reception

Adrienne LaFrance’s article, “Television Troubles” (10/14), has nothing to say about the consumer who pays for all the duplication of “news.” It can hardly be called different viewpoints, it’s all pretty much the same litany of people stabbed, gunned down, crushed by cars, etc., just enumerated by different people on different channels. A slightly different format but all paid for by the hapless consumer. These are not philanthropic organizations, these are networks and newscasts supported by us, the consumer, whether or not we listen to the nightly casualty reports. Duplication of inanity. Just how much can be squeezed out of us who earn less and less to spend less?
