Waves of aloha
The same scenarios on all non-cable networks on “tsunami-Saturday”: clear the beaches, roads, get on higher ground, fill the tank and get supplies! For hours the same commands. When asked about the people in Chile, the answer was: “There’s no time for that now, we’re concerned for our own people right now.”
And when it’s our turn to be buried under concrete rubble here on Oahu, will the people of the world take the same attitude? Will they say, “Let them dig themselves out, we’re caring for our own!”? We don’t know how to find shelter for our own homeless, for a few thousand, how will we find shelter for a half a million?
Will the likes of Charles Djou invoke fiscal responsibility? After Hawaii Kai and Kahala are dug out, will it be: “Let the people of Kalihi and Waianae dig themselves out by the hands and nails!? Furthermore, let those who haven’t got rice, let them eat poi!!
