Correction
Please note that we currently do not supply product to Grand Cafe (“A Grand Relaunch,” Jan. 23). The reality is that demand for local and organic fruits and vegetables is HUGE, we’ve maxed out our 25-acres in Lualualei Valley and we cannot/will not be able to supply the 2–3 new product requests we get each week (curiously we had a request from Grand Cafe to buy our product on 1/26/13 three days after this article went to print). Perhaps if the State put real effort into defending the best farmland (such as at Kunia where they are developing the so-called Hoopili project) farmers like us guys would be able to supply this demand.

My apologies for reporting a quote that did not reflect an accurate assessment of Grand Cafe’s buyer status. We at the Weekly love enterprises such as MAO Organic Farms and also desire to see the State invest more into developing farmland.
