There’s a difference
This is exactly the type of misinformation, accusations and lies of someone who has opposing views of the aquarium fish fishery (“Something Fishy,” March 6). I support the aquarium fish fishery. DLNR has been on record for [more than] 10 years saying that the aquarium fish fishery is sustainable. Aquarium fish collectors are being proactive and propose rules that support sustainability in the aquarium fish fishery.
My testimony was that I gather from the near-shore waters for subsistence and for my cultural practices. I eat what I gather! This person has no respect for our way of life and clearly does not understand that most of the people living in Hawaii gather [fish] from the ocean to eat, not “collect.”
