One of Primo’s points of pride is that it was born on the shores of Hawaii. While the revived version of Primo has only some of its products brewed on the Islands, it still is an integral part of Hawaii’s cultural history. Interestingly enough, Primo has decided to celebrate the 50th anniversary of statehood with a limited-edition, draft-only Statehood Ale. Director of Marketing Kyle Wortham describes the brew as a ”smooth-drinking Pale Ale with a nice floral hop aroma.” Available only through August, find the Hilo-brewed (courtesy of Hawaii Nui Brewing) draft at J.J. Dolan’s, Lulu’s Waikiki, Don Ho’s Island Grill, Oceans 808 and the Hau Tree and Tapa bars at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. On Maui, drink in the past 50 years at Lulu’s in Lahaina and Kihei, as well as Hard Rock Café in Lahaina.
Cold Fyyre!, a local “all natural artisan ice cream” company, is now present at two markets on Oahu–the Kailua Farmers’ Market on alternate Thursdays (5pm–7:30pm) and the Fort Street Mall Open Market on Tuesdays and Fridays (8am–2pm). Choose from one to three scoops on a traditional cone, shakes, ice cream sandwiches on your choice of cookie or grab a pint for your The Notebook-watching session. The friendly faces of Cold Fyyre will even blast your sweet treats with dry ice, free of charge, for the hot walk back. You can enjoy your chocolate truffle ice cream on Chinese almond cookies in one solid piece. [email: coldfyyre], 387-0705
