Restaurant Week is coming up Nov 16–22. If eating out is one of your recession victims, now’s your chance to try out spots like Azure, Nobu, 3660 on the Rise, 12th Avenue Grill at discounted prices. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond Head. See the complete list at [www.restaurantweekhawaii.com], or call 734-9539.

Chef Mavro earned a AAA five-diamond rating for the second year in a row. You can see what five-diamond food tastes like for a pittance from Nov. 19–Dec. 5, when the restaurant serves its special Beaujolais Nouveau dinner. For just $59 you get three courses that chef George Mavrothalassitis and chef de cuisine Kevin Chong created just to go with this year’s stellar Beaujolais Nouveau harvest (wine is extra). In fact, dinners like that will be happening around the world–Nov. 19 is the official release date of the young, refreshing wine. Reservations are a must, 944-4714.

Town restaurant and Slow Food Oahu have teamed up to give a special dinner and book launch party for Slow: Life in a Tuscan Town by Douglas Gayeton at Town Nov 18. Dinner (including wine!) is $100 and you get a copy of the book, too. Reservations: 735-5900.

Vino’s schedule is busy as ever. Chef Keith Endo’s monthly Communal Table dinner happens Nov. 14. On the menu: wild mushroom strudel, chanterelle papardelle and braised chicken with wild mushrooms. All paired with Chuck Furuya’s wine finds. Just $45. And on Nov. 18 Furuya hosts a “Cab-a-Rama” winetasting featuring five stellar Cabernet Sauvignons, such as the 2007 Rivers Marie, made by winemaking star Thomas Brown. He’s known for his Schrader wines, but Rivers Marie is his own label. Taste what all the fuss is about. $39. Reservations: 533-4476
