Whether it’s Restaurant Week or not, the best haute-dining deal in town can be found Saturdays to Mondays at Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas in Restaurant Row. Those nights he serves his four-course Locally Grown Menu. It changes monthly and is just $35. This month you get kampachi sushi (made into little jewels with nori tsukudani, pickled wasabi and shiso), Kauai shrimp seafood ravioli, Hawaiian red veal (means it wasn’t milk-fed) scallopini rich with garlic soy brown buter and black truffle pâté, and apple banana bread pudding. Reservations are a must: 533-4476.
You’re so over brining and roasting turkey (and doing the dishes afterward)? There are lots of eating-out options on Nov. 26, but hurry and book before the last yam is spoken for. Here are just a few. 3660 on the Rise (which won bronze for Best Oahu Restaurant at the Hale ‘Aina Awards) offers a buffet 3:30–7pm, $44.75 for adults, $17.75 for children 3–10. Aside from turkey, includes seared salmon with grilled pineapple salsa and roast prime rib. [3660.com], 737-1177. • Sansei Hawaii will serve a turkey roulade with bacon stuffing and sweet potatoes for $22. [Sanseihawaii.com], 931-6286. • Plumeria Beach House at the Kahala Hotel & Resort will set up a big buffet spread that has 13 dishes just in the salad section (Caesar to spicy Thai beef). And you know there’ll be a mad dash for the crab legs on the “Chef’s Table.” 5:30–9pm, $60 for adults, $45 for children 4–12.
Chai Chaowasaree tirelessly participates in seemingly every fundraising food event on the island. Now he rounds up his chef pals to celebrate his own work–Chai’s Island Bistro’s 10th anniversary and Singha Thai Cuisine’s 20th–with a grazing event Nov. 20, 6–9pm at the base of Aloha Tower, $90. Participating chefs and restaurants include Chef Mavro’s George Mavrothalassitis and Kevin Chong, Vino’s Keith Endo, Tango Contemporary Café’s Goran Streng and Le Bistro’s Alan Takasaki. Just as delicious will be the A-list entertainment: Jerry Santos, Brothers Cazimero, Sista Robi. For tickets: 585-0011, [www.chaisislandbistro.com].
