The owners of Apartment3 have been concentrating on their kitchen offerings over the past several months, and the hiring of Executive Chef Robert McGee looks like a winner. McGee comes to the Islands from Portland, Ore., where he was head chef at Slow Bar. If the sample online reviews of his former establishment–“Orgasmic.” “Mouthwatering.” “The perfect burger.”–are any guide, McGee has good things in store.
Kauai-made rum hasn’t made it to Honolulu yet, but Koloa Rum Company is available at Lihue’s Kilohana Plantation. Made from molasses and island-grown sugar, Koloa is believed to be the first commercial rum every produced on the Garden Isle. Check out [www.koloarum.com].
