Opened: 22° North Restaurant & Bar in Lihue, Kauai, in the space formerly occupied by Gaylord’s at Kilohana. Billed as a “locavore restaurant,” 22° North features Kauai-grown meats–such as beef, pork, rabbit and fish–and produce from its own 1.5-acre garden and 60-acre Kilohana orchard and agricultural park. Bryna Storch, previously of KAHEA: The Hawaiian-Environmental Alliance, will head the farm and gardens, while Aaron Leikam, who worked under Rick Bayless, among other notable chefs, will head the kitchen.
Reincarnated: Döner Shack, from Maunakea Marketplace to a food trailer in front of SoHo. Serves up Turkish wraps similar to gyros, with meat cut from rotating rotisseries. Mon–Fri, 10am–3pm.
Opened: Tandoori Corner, in Waimalu Shopping Center. Indian food in ‘Aiea.
Sunshine’s Cake Creations new cupcake flavors for fall include pineapple cilantro cake with lime buttercream, banana cake with maple buttercream, avocado cake with lemon buttercream, and raspberry and basil cake with vanilla buttercream. Cupcakes available at Bad Ass Coffee Company.
