Hawaii Food Policy Council (HFPC) receives $25,000 in grants from the state of Hawaii Office of Community Services and the Small Planet Fund. HFPC was formed in November 2010 with a mission of ensuring all people in Hawaii are provided with a safe, culturally appropriate, nutritious diet through the creation of a sustainable food system. The goal of the HFPC is to maximize community self-reliance and social justice by facilitating thoughtful debate and discussion, program incubation and policy advocacy and analysis.
Ginger Mania at Whole Foods Kahala. Through 3/2, local, organic ginger varieties (i.e. the Big Kahuna), will be on sale for $6.99 a pound. The prepared foods counter will feature ginger, and there will be samples by PacifiKool, ginger cocktails with Kai vodka, and new ginger flavors by OnoPops.
