Zagat restaurant survey rankings for Hawaii are in and the top three restaurants ranked by food scores are: Sushi Sasabune, Hiroshi Eurasion, and Alan Wong’s.

Opened: Mt. Kaala Coffee Company coffee bar in the ‘Ilikai Hotel. All the coffee is local and roasted on the North Shore. The cafe also offers free wi-fi.

Avocado Fest at Whole Foods, April 14-27. Big Island conventional avos will be on sale for $1.99/lb and Big Island organic avos for $2.99/lb. Look for recipes for avocado cocktails, chocolate-avocado mousse (using local chocolate and local avocadoes) and avocado frosting.
