Food truck stop: In the parking lot on Kapiolani and Ward, there’s a small fleet of food trucks, like the Thai Achilles Grill; Chicago Eatz with deep dish pizza, Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches; Hawaii’s Fried Musubi, with, yup, fried musubi as well as anything else you can throw in a fryer (i.e. Oreos and Twinkies).
Closed: Lucy’s Grill and Bar in Kailua
The Melt truck is closed, for now, while the partners are busy with other projects: Prima, an Italian-American eatery slated to open in September in Kailua and The Pig and the Lady, a pop-up restaurant in Hank’s Haute Dogs.
Rusty’s Hawaiian coffee from Kau was crowned Grand Champion at the Hawaii Coffee Association’s statewide cupping competition. At the moment, Rusty’s coffee is being served at Morning Glass in Manoa.
