Food & Drink / Makaweli poi: taro chunks, fresh-steamed and ready to eat, from Makaweli Poi Mill on Kauai, now available at Kokua Market, Down to Earth and select Foodland stores.
Opened: Kiss My Grits, southern-style food with biscuits and gravy, Carolina-style BBQ, shrimp & grits. Come in, y’all.
Opened: Honu’s at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel on Kamakahonu Bay. It replaces the hotel’s seaside Kona Beach restaurant that was damaged during the March tsunami. Expect breakfast buffets and dinner entrees like seared diver scallops with purple sweet potatoes and asparagus.
