Pork Rules: Shinsato Hog Farm is partnering with Oahu Fresh, the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) delivery service, to add pork to the menu of items that might appear in weekly subscribers’ baskets. Delivery is downtown; baskets consist of whatever’s fresh and local; pork will be added to price structure for those who wish to receive it. Selected cuts of Shinsato Farm pork also available at Kokua Market and Higa Food Service.
And On That Farm: Fun for the food conscious is mixed with satire in the YouTube video, “Old Man Santo Had A Farm,” a rewrite of the children’s song, “Old McDonald Had A Farm.”
More Markets: Remember KCC’s Tuesday Farmer’s Market pilot? Due to its success, it will now be a permanent weekly event from 4–7pm. Avoid the thick Saturday farmer’s market crowd by visiting this great alternative meeting time.
Back to the Future: Chef Glenn Chu of Indigo has reintroduced favored dishes of yesteryear for longtime fans of the Chinatown Eurasian restaurant. Return for Fiery Explosions from Heaven Shrimp, Beef Rendang Coconut Curry, Buddha’s Feast and Black Lentils with Organic Thyme, those addictive Crisp Goat Cheese Won Tons with Four-Fruit Sauce (the favorite on the menu for all time) and much more. By-the-glass offerings half-price Tuesdays.
