Maui-based restaurant Amasia has been voted “Best Neighbor Island Restaurant” by the Critic’s Choice Ilima Awards, as well as the “Best New Restaurant” by the Best of Maui Reader’s Choice. Perhaps Alan Wong’s touch is magic indeed.
Last week at the International Chocolate Awards in London, locally owned and operated Madre Chocolate won the World Silver Medal In The Bars with their Triple Cacao bar. The Triple Cacao bar also won the Gold Medal for the USA national award. The Kailua-based company has only been in business for two years, making them the youngest to participate in this world competition.
Gayot, a worldwide reviewer of restaurants and hotels, has named Chef Mavro one of the nation’s best seafood restaurants, making it onto the Top 10 list. Chef George Mavrothalassitis is now featuring local autumn-seasonal ingredients, such as Big Island Abalone and Keahole Lobster, on his menu.
