Rotating table Taste will unveil a new lineup of rotating chefs and street food vendors on Tue., 3/5. Until May, chefs including Mark Noguchi, Quinten Frye of Salt Bar & Kitchen, pop-up expert Miso and Ale and Ono To Go will take turns pleasing tastebuds.
A makeover 12th Avenue Grill is known for its bistro-style environment and commitment to cooking sustainably. It will move into the former Victoria Inn space at 1120 12th Ave. with a complete makeover, slated to open in late summer.
Will work for food FoodCorps, a national nonprofit organization that aims to improve school food and teach children about nutrition, is recruiting 10 service members in Hawaii. The full-time members will work one year in the public school food system, helping to improve nutrition education programs, build school gardens and push to source local produce. Applications are due Sun., 3/24.
Third time’s a charm Kua ‘Aina opened a new location in the Kapolei Commons shopping plaza with the same menu–burgers, sandwiches and salads–as the chain’s Ward Center and Haleiwa locations.
The tops Quinten Frye (Salt Bar & Kitchen), Ed Kenney (Town) and Chuck Furuya (DK Restaurants) were just announced as semifinalists for various James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards. Winners will be announced Mon., 5/6.
